About NELLIE SHEPHERD

Nellie is probably "the best children's party designer" in the country and she certainly does have the experience and clients to warrant this title.

Nellie Shepherd is an author, West End actress and art designer, who took up writing books 5 years ago. Within that time, she has 6 books published by Penguin’s DK - My Art Class, My Animal Art Class, My Puppet Art Class, My Picture Art Class, My Christmas Art Class and My Party Art Class. Nellie’s books are international and have sold in over 15 countries and translated into many languages.

In 2004 Nellie Shepherd became Madonna’s party designer and MC; designing, organizing and running the launch party for Madonna’s first children’s book, “The English Roses”, at The Roof Gardens Kensington. Her events are considered second to none and everyone who attends them is enchanted. Nellie has run over 2000 children’s designer art parties to date. Every week she creates more and more, with every theme imaginable.

Nellie has an innate talent and gift for inspiring children to be creative. She started by helping just one child in her kitchen, with some paints - just for fun and in-between acting jobs. Ten years later, with her books in tow, she has inspired tens of thousands of children in both art and drama worldwide. Over the years Nellie has devised literally thousands of creative workshops for kids; directing Shakespeare at The Globe Theatre; creating “Tiny Tates” @ The Tate Modern; computer animation art in her own successful art schools around London; and running library workshops in New York - from Broadway to Bronx. Through her work inspiring children from painting portraits, to sculpture on a massive scale, to throwing over 2000 art parties, Nellie’s greatest discovery has been that children are completely amazing - challenge them and they will always surprise you.

Nellie’s art workshops, exhibitions and art parties have also attracted the celebrities and their children with Jonathan Ross, Lulu Guinness, the late Paula Yates and Richard Curtis among those who have attended her classes.

Nellie’s teaching methods have hit the headlines many times, with numerous articles and television appearances. The children attending her workshops have created art exhibitions all over London, raising thousands of pounds for children’s charities. Nellie believes that we can all achieve anything we want to, as long as we “believe it, love it, stick to it and never say the C word - Cant!”

Nellie’s writing career started with winning The Woolwich Young Playwright of the year, with her broadcast and Sony award nominated play, “The Tragic Roundabout” performed by Toyah Wilcox on BBC Radio. In November 2004 Nellie was awarded Penguin DK’s author of the month for her new art class series, which she launched in London, and at the Edinburgh and Cheltenham book festivals. In September 2005 Nellie was awarded a top pre-school award for her latest book “My Party Art Class.” Her books have also been shown in the international book fairs at Bologna, Frankfurt and at Cannes.

This new website launches Nellie's ART parties & DIY art party kits, giving us all a chance to have a little of her magic. Even if one's budget cant stretch to Nellie herself running your party, the DIY Nellie art party packages are magical and designed by Nellie herself.
